UAE confirms oil spill off Umm Al Quwain beaches caused reported odors across emirates

The UAE has confirmed that an oil spill off Umm Al Quwain beaches is responsible for odors reported in several emirates. Authorities stated the odors pose no health risk to residents, though precautionary surveys, monitoring, and assessments are ongoing to gauge impacts and protect the marine environment. The vessel involved has been identified as the GEM NO2, which was struck earlier this month.
