Sharon Gal Leaves i24NEWS, Returns to Channel 14

Israeli broadcaster Sharon Gal has resigned from i24NEWS after a year and nine months hosting the nightly program "Seven with Sharon Gal," which aired Sunday through Thursday at 7 p.m. According to journalist Gil Masha'ali, Gal will soon return to Channel 14.

The move comes just two days after Gal hosted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a major election interview in his studio. It marks another chapter in the presenter's turbulent series of moves between Israeli media outlets.

Gal began his television career as a news correspondent on Channel 10 and later created and hosted the successful program "Economic Night." In 2020 he moved to Reshet 13, where he hosted "Five with Sharon Gal." In February 2023 he moved for to Channel 14, where he presented the main evening newscast alongside Magi Tabib.

In spring 2024, Gal attempted to return to Reshet 13 and became embroiled in a legal battle with Channel 14, which demanded he remain. He eventually received his own program at 7 p.m. on the channel. In January 2025 he left Channel 14 for i24NEWS, a departure that led Channel 14 to file a lawsuit against him for 1.9 million shekels in the Tel Aviv Labor Court, claiming breach of contract.

Now, less than two years after the dramatic split, Gal is returning to Channel 14's screen in the midst of a heated election campaign.

Gal has previously hosted other public figures, including mentalist Uri Geller, who recounted his meeting with the Lubavitcher Rebbe some 50 years ago. Further details on the terms of his return to Channel 14 have not yet been released.
