The investigation, which began earlier this week at the Etzion police station, culminated Thursday when the Jerusalem District Court overturned an earlier release order and extended the suspect's detention by five days. In an unusual move reflecting the severity of the case, the court also authorized the publication of the suspect's identity and photograph to assist in locating potential additional victims.

From Complaint to Arrest

The case began when a Beitar Illit resident filed a complaint at the Etzion police station early this week, stating that his family had been exposed to deeply disturbing behavior by an individual dressed in Haredi attire. According to police statements, the incidents occurred on two separate occasions during the previous Shabbat, with details so severe that authorities declined to provide specifics to the media.

Investigators immediately launched professional operations to track the suspect, who apparently realized his actions had been reported. Detectives from the Etzion station, working with intelligence support, located the suspect traveling on Route 443 toward central Israel. At the time of his arrest, police discovered a lot of clothing and equipment in his vehicle, leading investigators to believe he may have been attempting to flee the jurisdiction.

Court Reverses Release Decision

The case took a dramatic turn Thursday when the Jerusalem District Court reversed a Wednesday evening decision by the magistrate's court that had ordered the suspect's release. Judge Menachem Klein, presiding over the district court hearing, stated that the investigation's findings warranted continued detention despite being in early stages.

The court's decision to permit publication of the suspect's identity represents a significant step, typically reserved for cases where authorities believe additional victims may exist but have not yet come forward. Police emphasized that the suspect worked as an educator with access to children, heightening concerns about the scope of potential offenses.
