Woman Arrested After False Terror Report: "My Husband is on His Way to Commit an Attack"

A resident of Baqa al-Gharbiyye was arrested on Shabbos on suspicion of filing a false report after claiming her husband had threatened her and intended to carry out a terror attack. Police mobilized extensive operational and technological resources, but investigation revealed the claim stemmed from a family dispute over divorce proceedings.

According to a statement from the Israel Police spokesperson, the Baqa al-Gharbiyye station opened an accelerated investigation following the serious report. Given the immediate concern for public safety, extensive operational and technological systems were activated, leading to the rapid location and arrest of the husband.

As the investigation progressed, it emerged that the couple was involved in a family dispute over divorce proceedings. All checks conducted ruled out any security-related intent on the husband's part and raised strong suspicion that the woman's serious report was entirely false.

In light of the severity of the actions, the false mobilization of security forces, and the deployment of significant operational resources, police arrested the woman for questioning. At its conclusion, she was remanded in custody, and police will request the court extend her detention.

Her husband was also arrested for questioning on suspicion of making threats. Police emphasized they will continue to act decisively against anyone filing false reports that mobilize security forces and waste public resources.

Baqa al-Gharbiyye has been the target of additional police operations in the past as part of the fight against crime families and criminal activity in the area. Additionally, days ago a Baqa al-Gharbiyye resident was arrested on suspicion of contact with Iranian intelligence operatives.
