Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Education Minister Yoav Kisch arrived Tuesday evening at Rambam Hospital in Haifa to visit students wounded in the North and their families.

The explosion occurred midday when an unexploded cluster submunition from a Hezbollah rocket detonated. The device apparently exploded after students from Maalot yeshiva high school found it and handled it during a hike.

Eitan Masauri, a 14-year-old student wounded by shrapnel in the neck, described what happened: "He opened the screw, then it exploded. The guys flew, there was some kind of shock for two seconds, and then they told me I was bleeding. I understood that blood was coming from my neck."

The boy added: "I understood I was wounded. I saw a friend was wounded, I tried to help him."

The Prime Minister's Office said Netanyahu instructed the commander of the Home Front Command to sharpen the guidelines and warnings to the public, emphasizing the severe prohibition against touching unexploded ordnance and to conduct wide-area sweeps to locate such devices.
