A mother and her five children narrowly escaped a direct missile strike in Arad after reaching a protected space just moments before their home was destroyed, according to local reports.

The family had been staying together in a single room at the grandparents’ apartment, as the father is currently serving in reserve duty. The children are all young, with the oldest reportedly eight years old.

According to a resident familiar with the incident, the father returned home briefly over the weekend and arrived shortly before sirens sounded in the city. When the alert began, he helped his wife and children quickly make their way to a shelter.

Minutes later, the room where the family had been staying sustained a direct hit and was completely destroyed.

The incident took place during a broader missile barrage on the city, which left more than 100 people injured but caused no fatalities.

Residents noted that many buildings in Arad are older and lack private reinforced rooms, making access to shared shelters critical during attacks.

The family’s survival has been described locally as a near miss, underscoring the importance of reaching protected spaces immediately during sirens.
