Iranian authorities executed 20 year old protester Erbin Hirhah on Saturday morning at Shahroud Prison, according to human rights monitoring networks. Hirhah, who was arrested during nationwide demonstrations in January, was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court on charges of "Moharebeh," a legal classification defined under Iranian law as waging war against God.
Family members gathered outside the walls of Shahroud Prison on Friday evening in a final attempt to halt the execution, but prison officials carried out the sentence at dawn. In his final phone call from solitary confinement, Hirhah delivered a final message to his family regarding the national protest movement.
"Do not let them forget me," Hirhah stated during his final call. "We stood on our feet for the liberation of our homeland. Do not let the path we chose be silenced."
Exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi issued a formal condemnation following the news, warning that several other political detainees face imminent death sentences. Pahlavi highlighted the cases of Javad Ajam, Morteza Zamani, Mehdi Ranjbar, Farshid Rahmani, Alireza Saghari, and Pouya Saghari, calling on the international community to publicize their names.
"Today, the regime in Iran executed Erbin Hirhah, a brave young protester who was arrested during Iran's 'Lion and Sun' national uprising," Pahlavi stated in an official release. "He was only 20 years old. Those who took Erbin's life will be held accountable before the Iranian people and the law."
Hirhah's death follows recent executions in Isfahan, where young protesters Amirhossein Safari and Abolfazl Sepahi were hanged in Alikhani Square under heavy security presence. The two were among 12 individuals sentenced to death in connection with the January protests, following the earlier executions of Golmohammad Mohammadi and Erfan Esfandiari on July 19.
United Nations human rights experts have repeatedly called on Tehran to halt all planned executions, citing severe violations of due process, closed door trials without adequate legal representation, and reliance on forced confessions broadcast on state television. Among those currently awaiting execution is Shervin Bagerian Jebelli, who was arrested by security forces shortly after his 18th birthday.
According to statements provided to Iran International, human rights organizations continue to document expedited trial procedures across Iranian revolutionary courts as security forces maintain strict controls over family gatherings near detention facilities.
