Sharren Haskel Warns Lebanon: ‘The Era of Containment Is Over’

Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel toured Israel’s northern border Tuesday amid rising security tensions and recent attacks on Israeli civilians, warning Lebanon that Israel’s patience had run out.
Haskel began the visit in Kiryat Shmona, where she met Mayor Avichai Stern, and continued to Metula for a field tour and meetings with residents.
“I came here this morning to stand with our heroic residents on the border line,” Haskel said. “Their resilience under ongoing fire is an example of national strength, but the patience of the State of Israel is running out.”
Haskel said Israel would no longer accept the situation along the Lebanese border.
“The era of containment ended long ago,” she said. “The other side must understand this, and soon.”
She said Israel had killed hundreds of terrorists over the past month and would continue acting against Hezbollah.
“The equation Hezbollah tried to dictate will not continue for long,” Haskel said. “Israel will not remain silent. For every drone, every rocket and every violation of Israeli sovereignty, Lebanon will pay in territory.”
Haskel warned that the IDF would deepen its control inside Lebanon and expand the security zone as needed.
She also called on the Lebanese government to act against Hezbollah, warning that if it failed to do so, instability would spread deeper into Beirut and beyond.
“Whoever tries to harm us will discover that the border line moves against him,” Haskel said.
