A major diplomatic breakthrough has been reached in Washington as President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a formal 10 day ceasefire. The agreement, set to begin at 5 p.m. EST, follows intensive discussions between the American administration and the leaders of both nations. President Trump described the negotiations as "excellent conversations" with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This pause in hostilities is intended to serve as a cooling off period and a foundation for more permanent negotiations aimed at ending the war that has ravaged the border region.

The announcement highlights a significant historical shift, as the President revealed that the two countries met in Washington, D.C. this past Tuesday for the first time in 34 years. This meeting, moderated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, represents the most substantial direct engagement between Beirut and Jerusalem in decades. Trump expressed high regard for the participants, referring to them as "Highly Respected President Joseph Aoun" and "Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu," and emphasized that both leaders are aligned in their goal to achieve peace between their respective countries.

To ensure the ceasefire holds and transitions into a more durable agreement, the President has mobilized his top cabinet members and military leadership. He has directed Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, along with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Razin' Caine, to work directly with the Israeli and Lebanese delegations. The involvement of General Caine suggests that the security arrangements, particularly regarding the border and the presence of armed groups, will be a primary focus of the upcoming talks.

The Trump administration is viewing this development as a defining moment for its foreign policy. The President framed the success as part of a broader track record of regional stabilization, stating, "It has been my Honor to solve 9 Wars across the World, and this will be my 10th." The administration's focus now shifts to the complex task of turning a temporary 10 day pause into a "Lasting PEACE." With the ceasefire set to take effect this evening, the world watches to see if this diplomatic push can finally bring stability to a region that has known only war for years. The President concluded his announcement with a call to action, declaring, "Let's, GET IT DONE!"
