Renowned Israeli actor and director Rami Heuberger passed away last night at the age of 61 following a prolonged battle with cancer.

Born in 1963 in Tel Aviv, Heuberger studied at Ironi Alef High School before serving in the IDF’s Military Police Corps. He later trained in acting at the Nissan Nativ Studio, launching a career that would span theater, television, and film.

Heuberger began his theatrical journey at the Cameri Theater, appearing in productions such as Macbeth and Gam Hu Batzilim. He also led the one-man show Ta’atuon, which won first prize at the Teyatronto Festival.

In 1993, Heuberger became a household name with the satirical television series HaHamishiya HaKamerit, alongside Keren Mor, Shay Avivi, Dov Navon, and Menashe Noy. The show became a cultural landmark in Israel with the launch of Channel 2. That same year, he appeared in Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List and starred in Hagai Levi’s Snow in August, with fellow HaHamishiya HaKamerit cast member, Shay Avivi.

In 2008, he portrayed Michael Neuman in the drama series BeTipul, followed by roles as investigator Ido Weiner in HaBorer and head of the yeshiva Rabbi Yair in Other Lives. Heuberger continued with prominent roles in Children of the Prime Minister (2011), drawing inspiration from Benjamin Netanyahu, and appeared in international productions like the 2014 Swiss film Shahar.
