Turkish band held at Ben Gurion before show

Ten musicians flown in from Turkey for the singer's Tel Aviv concert were stopped at the airport and barred from entering Israel. After intervention by Israeli officials, they were cleared to enter and the show goes on.

Lior Narkis

Israeli singer Lior Narkis ran into an unexpected problem ahead of his concert at Tel Aviv's Menorah Arena: About ten Turkish musicians flown in specially to accompany him at the "CELEBRATION" show were stopped at Ben Gurion Airport and barred from entering the country.

According to a statement from the singer's publicist, the musicians were held because of the tensions between Israel and Turkey, and were forced to wait at the airport until their entry could be arranged.

Following intervention by Israeli government officials, approval was granted and the musicians were allowed into the country. The incident is now over, and preparations for the concert are continuing as planned.

The concert is this Thursday, November 5, at Menora Mivtachim Arena. The show marks Narkis’s 50th birthday.
