Devastating Tragedy: 5-Year-Old Boy Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle in Beit Shemesh

Tragedy on Hazon Ish Street: Medics perform CPR at scene, but child pronounced dead upon arrival at Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

A five-year-old boy was killed on Sunday morning after being struck by a passing vehicle on Hazon Ish Street in Beit Shemesh.

The initial report of the collision involving the young pedestrian was received at 8:14 a.m. Emergency responders arriving at the scene found the child lying on the road in critical condition, unconscious and showing no signs of life.

MDA emergency medical technician Yosef Chaim Haozi described the scene as "difficult," noting that the boy had suffered multi-system trauma.

"The child was lying on the road near the vehicle, unconscious, with no pulse and not breathing, having sustained a multi-system injury after being hit by the car," Haozi said.

United Hatzalah paramedics Yaakov Jungreis and Yechiel Rosenberg, who were among the first to arrive, performed advanced resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions and the administration of medication. The boy was rushed to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem while life-saving efforts continued in the ambulance.

Doctors at the hospital were later forced to pronounce him dead.
