Just months after being released from Hamas captivity in Gaza, former IDF soldier Daniella Gilboa celebrated her birthday in a heartfelt and emotional gathering that symbolized hope, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of survival. Surrounded by close family and friends, Daniella was surprised with a deeply personal performance by one of her favourite Israeli singers, Adir Getz turning her birthday into a powerful celebration of life and freedom.

The surprise took place at the Gilboa family home, where Getz arrived to perform one of Daniella’s favourite songs. The atmosphere quickly became electric as the young soldier, recently freed after more than three harrowing months in captivity, joined in singing alongside her sister Noam and their many guests. The moment was not only a celebration of her birthday but also a poignant reminder of the strength it takes to endure and recover from unimaginable trauma.

Daniella Gilboa was one of several female soldiers kidnapped by Hamas terrorists during the October 7, 2023, assault on the Nahal Oz military base a brutal attack that marked the beginning of one of the deadliest escalations in the region in recent memory. She was held for 110 days under inhumane conditions in Gaza, enduring psychological torment, extreme confinement, and deprivation of basic necessities such as adequate food and freedom of movement.

Her release on January 25, 2025, along with three other female hostages, came during a temporary ceasefire agreement that allowed for limited humanitarian exchanges. The announcement of their return sparked widespread celebration and emotional outpourings throughout Israel, though the joy remains tempered by the painful reality that more than 100 hostages are still believed to be held by Hamas in Gaza.

At the birthday gathering, the Gilboa family expressed both their gratitude and their continuing sense of responsibility to those still in captivity. “From here, and from everywhere we call for the swift return of all the hostages. Chag Sameach and may we hear good news,” the family said in a joint message during the celebration.

Daniella’s story continues to serve as a symbol of national endurance and personal bravery. Her birthday, transformed into a touching musical tribute, is a reminder that while healing may take time, moments of joy, unity, and hope can shine even in the shadow of suffering.
