Jordan's Foreign Ministry announced Sunday that King Abdullah has received an invitation from US President Donald Trump to join the "Peace Council" tasked with overseeing the management of the Gaza Strip. The ministry stated that "the documents related to the invitation are currently being studied in accordance with internal legal procedures."

In a statement, Foreign Ministry spokesman Fouad Mghali highlighted Jordan's appreciation for Trump's "leadership role" in securing a ceasefire in Gaza and launching a comprehensive peace plan, as well as his efforts to achieve security, stability, and peace.

The announcement comes amid reported tensions between the US and Israel. Trump revealed Saturday that the Peace Council members include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, US-Jewish billionaire Mark Rowan, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and US Deputy National Security Advisor Robert Gabriel.
