The Hebrew University began its "Nakba Commemoration Week" yesterday (Monday), set to include several events and conferences on the topic.

On social media, supporters wrote, "In light of the ongoing genocide and displacement, we believe in the importance of emphasizing our right to exist. Be part of the collective voice that rejects oblivion and the genocide of our people."

Tens of thousands of students and staff at the Hebrew University received a letter this week from senior faculty requesting "moderation" ahead of Nakba Day, which students from the "Arab-Palestinian community" are set to commemorate.

The letter noted that "the ongoing war and the approaching dates on the calendar make this period particularly challenging for students, academic faculty, and administrative staff. The week ahead, during which members of the Arab-Palestinian community commemorate the Nakba."

Meanwhile, following a "Nakba Week" demonstration held by students from cells supporting terrorist organizations, students from the Zionist cells "Dror" of Religious Zionism, "Im Tirtzu," and "Lavi" raised Israeli flags in response to the protesters.

Signs displayed at the event bore Arabic phrases such as "The destruction continues, and the Nakba is an ongoing reality," "Palestinian blood is not negotiable with the occupation," and more. According to students present at the scene, one of the university administrators requested that they refrain from chanting "Nakba is nonsense," claiming it constituted incitement.

As reported by Israel Hayom, the 'Dror' student group affiliated Religious Zionism, sent a strongly worded letter Sunday evening to University President Professor Asher Cohen and University Rector Professor Tamir Shefer. The letter demanded they prohibit all "Nakba Week" events from taking place on campus. According to students enrolled at the Hebrew University, this letter marks the first sign of organized resistance that is expected to intensify significantly in the coming days."
