In a precision overnight operation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), in coordination with the Israel Security Agency (ISA), launched a targeted strike against approximately 40 engineering vehicles linked to Hamas terror activity. Many of these vehicles were reportedly used during the October 7th massacre, in which Hamas militants infiltrated Israeli territory, resulting in one of the deadliest days in the country’s history.

According to the IDF, these engineering vehicles played a key role in enabling Hamas operations both during the initial attack and throughout ongoing combat in Gaza. The vehicles had been used for planting explosives, constructing underground tunnels, breaching security fences, and clearing debris to access hidden caches of weapons and equipment concealed beneath the rubble. Military officials emphasized that these engineering assets were integral to Hamas’ infrastructure and directly supported their operational capabilities.

"The engineering vehicles that were targeted are a central component in Hamas' ability to carry out terror operations against IDF troops and the State of Israel," stated the IDF. During the October 7th incursion, Hamas' engineering units were instrumental in breaching the border fence between Gaza and Israel, using heavy machinery to allow fighters to enter Israel via trucks and motorcycles. These units reportedly planted explosives and built makeshift bridges to facilitate the rapid and coordinated assault.

The IDF described the strike as part of a broader strategy to dismantle Hamas’ operational capabilities and prevent future threats. "The strike was carried out to disrupt another capability of the Hamas terrorist organization," the military said. "The IDF and ISA will continue to operate against terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip in order to eliminate any threat to the citizens of the State of Israel."

This operation highlights the continuing efforts of Israeli security forces to neutralize the tactical tools Hamas relies upon, as fighting in Gaza persists and the region remains volatile.
