The military clarified that the decision to fire was made quickly due to the danger presented by the aerial device. "Immediately following the identification, and in light of the risk the drone posed, the IDF carried out a targeted strike against the suspects operating it."

The IDF emphasized that the strike was conducted "in accordance with the required chain of approval," but noted that "the details of the event are under examination."

Egypt has reached out to Israel, asking for clarification about the incident.

Egypt conveyed a furious message to Israel following the strike in Gaza in which five Palestinians working for the Egyptian Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza were killed. Cairo protested that the strike was carried out outside the "Yellow Line" areas, in a zone that did not pose a threat to the forces.
