Iran Launches Deadly Missile Barrage on Israel: Five Killed, Over 20 Wounde

Iran fired a salvo of ballistic missiles at Israel, killing five people and wounding at least 20 in Beersheba, where a seven-story apartment building was heavily damaged. Magen David Adom (MDA) reported treating two individuals in moderate condition, six with light injuries, and others suffering from cuts, limb wounds, and acute anxiety. Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba received the wounded, with trauma teams providing urgent care.

Rescue operations continue at the partially collapsed building, with Israel’s Fire and Rescue Authority reporting one person still missing. Three people sheltering on the fourth floor were pulled from the rubble. Authorities urged civilians to stay away from the site, warning that interference endangers public safety and hampers rescue efforts.

Missile shrapnel also caused damage at Ben-Gurion Airport, and in northern Israel, a 15-year-old was wounded in the Hadera region. Another missile landed in the Southern Negev, causing no reported injuries.

Iran’s attacks persisted past 7 a.m. local time, defying a ceasefire announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. Iranian state media SNN claimed Tehran began observing the ceasefire around 7:20 a.m. after launching four waves of missiles.

“We saw thick smoke rising from the crash site, and as we approached, we saw extensive destruction,” said Shimrit Sela, a senior MDA paramedic. “Outside one building, we found an unconscious man, and inside, a man and a woman were also unconscious. We’ve set up a treatment point for the injured.”

Sirens blared across Israel at least six times in over an hour, as footage on social media captured the moment an Iranian missile struck southern Israel.

Beersheba Mayor Ruvik Danilovich, speaking at the scene, confirmed four fatalities and said authorities are investigating whether the deceased were in protected spaces. “We are checking if there are still people trapped in the buildings. To our knowledge, there aren’t,” he stated.

An emergency center has been opened, registering about 700 residents and providing initial support. “We are busy caring for the wounded and creating certainty for families,” Danilovich added, noting efforts to restore an emergency routine in the neighborhood.

A man was saved because he was in the bathroom while his wife and son sheltered in the mamad.
