End of an Era: Katz Claims Iran is No Longer an Existential Threat to Israel

Defense Minister Israel Katz has declared that the removal of all enriched nuclear material from Iranian soil is now a mandatory "threshold condition" for ending the current military campaign.

Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a historic declaration on Tuesday, marking Holocaust Remembrance Day with the announcement that the State of Israel is no longer under the immediate threat of annihilation. Speaking on the shift in regional power, the Defense Minister tied this new security reality to the successful execution of operations "With a Lion's Heart" and "Lion's Roar," which targeted the heart of the Iranian nuclear project. However, Katz emphasized that despite the massive damage dealt to the regime’s facilities, the issue of enriched nuclear material remains a critical loose end. He revealed that Israel and the United States have officially established the total removal of this material from Iran as a mandatory prerequisite for concluding the war.

The New Security Balance

Katz linked the fundamental change in the Middle East to the elimination of Ali Khamenei, whom he described as the architect of the plan to destroy the Jewish state. He noted that while the primary production capabilities have been neutralized, the remaining enriched material "could serve as a basis for an attempt to restart the project" in the future. Because of this risk, the maritime blockade and military pressure will continue until the material is handed over or destroyed. The Defense Minister also noted that Iranian proxies, specifically the Hamas terrorists and Hezbollah, have lost their ability to pose a strategic threat, though he admitted that work remains to dismantle their remaining forces.

The Minister expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his leadership and thanked President Donald Trump for the unwavering alliance that allowed for these decisive strikes. "On this Holocaust Remembrance Day, the State of Israel is stronger and more secure, and for the first time in many years, it is not threatened by an existential threat of destruction," Katz stated. This bold assessment signals that the Israeli government views the current war not just as a defensive measure, but as a permanent restructuring of regional security that will only end once the Iranian nuclear threat is physically removed from the map.
