Tragedy in Modi'in: Mother and child perish in apartment blaze
Rescue teams arrived too late to save the young family as flames engulfed their home.



Tragedy struck the city of Modi'in early this morning (Sunday) when a mother and her young son perished in a devastating apartment fire. The Israel Fire and Rescue Service central district reported that emergency crews were dispatched to the scene after flames engulfed a residential unit, where they discovered the two victims with severe burn marks and no signs of life. Despite swift response efforts, the blaze claimed both lives before rescue teams could intervene.
Firefighters from the Modi'in station were dispatched to an apartment fire on Emek Beit She'an Street in Modi'in. Upon arrival at the scene, they noticed black smoke coming from the apartment. Without hesitation, the firefighters broke into the burning apartment and quickly searched, locating a mother and child who were unconscious in one of the rooms.The two were swiftly evacuated outside and transferred for further medical treatment. The firefighters continued to extinguish the fire completely and ventilate the apartment.
According to MDA spokesperson, at 09:57 a report was received at MDA's 101 hotline in the Ayalon area about a fire in a three-story building in Modi'in Makabim Reut. MDA paramedics reported two casualties, a 50-year-old mother and her 10-year-old son without signs of life, with burns on their bodies, and pronounced them dead at the scene.
