Netanyahu's 12 Hours of Silence Sparks Online Outrage
Journalists and politicians demand answers as the Prime Minister fails to address the nation or release a pre-recorded video following major changes in Home Front Command directives

The Israeli public and media landscape are reacting with astonishment and sharp criticism toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over his continued silence during a major security escalation.
Despite more than 12 hours passing since the outbreak of intense tensions with Iran and subsequent updates to Home Front Command safety directives, the Prime Minister has yet to address the nation.
Journalists, social media influencers, and concerned citizens have openly attacked Netanyahu for remaining silent during such a tense and volatile period.
Journalists and MK Lapid Backlash Over Lack of Leadership
Ari Kalman, a journalist for i24 News, stated simply, "Twelve hours, and the Prime Minister’s voice has not been heard."
Itamar Eichner, a veteran reporter for Ynet, provided a broader critique of the political echelon’s handling of the situation.
"The political echelon, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has still not updated the public on the renewal of hostilities with Iran," Eichner wrote. "Last night, IDF Spokesperson Brigadier General Efi Defrin stood before the Israeli public, but Netanyahu himself, who frequently releases pre-recorded video messages, has not spoken to the citizens, nor has Defense Minister Israel Katz."
Eichner noted that the last operational update from the Prime Minister’s Office was released yesterday around 3:00 PM, following an IDF strike on a Hezbollah headquarters in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut. He added that while the situation remains fluid and critical developments are undoubtedly occurring behind closed doors, the Israeli public remains in the dark.
Joining the wave of criticism, Opposition Leader Yair Lapid issued a scathing response following Iran's announcement that it would halt its missile launches. Lapid argued that the latest military round achieved none of its core goals: failing to advance the collapse of the Iranian regime, dismantle its ballistic missile and nuclear programs, or crush Hezbollah in Lebanon. Furthermore, Lapid claimed the operation lacked coordination with the United States and Gulf allies.
"Our government sent citizens to bomb shelters, closed schools, and paralyzed the economy without any understandable strategic purpose, even within the defense establishment" Lapid stated
Unanswered Questions on Trump and Lebanon
The growing wave of online criticism has left many citizens wondering where the Prime Minister is and why he is avoiding direct communication during a national security crisis. Compounding the public's frustration is the fact that Netanyahu has also failed to update citizens on his second phone call within 24 hours with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Crucially, Prime Minister Netanyahu has left the nation completely uninformed regarding the ongoing situation in Lebanon, leaving Israelis to wonder whether Israel will continue to strike Hezbollah targets across the northern border or if a major strategic shift is underway.
