A Palestinian resident of A-Ram, in Judea just north of Jerusalem, has been formally indicted for the brutal murder of his Israeli partner while she was in active labor, Israeli police announced on Monday.

According to the indictment, the 35-year-old Palestinian man carried out the killing while the woman was giving birth, in what authorities are calling a horrific and barbaric act. After murdering her, he allegedly set her body on fire and later sold her vehicle for profit.

The grim discovery was made on April 1, 2025, when police located the charred remains of the woman with the baby still physically connected to her via the umbilical cord. The shocking scene was uncovered by the Judea and Samaria District Central Unit (YAMAR), which quickly identified the baby’s father as the primary suspect.

The suspect has since been charged with murder under aggravating circumstances.

In an official statement, a police spokesperson said, “The Judea and Samaria District of the Israel Police will continue to operate resolutely and professionally to uncover the truth, bring justice to the victims, and ensure that those who harm human life are held accountable.”

Authorities have not yet released the names of the victim or the suspect, but the case has sent shockwaves throughout both Israeli and Palestinian communities, drawing condemnation for its brutal nature and tragic outcome.
