The security establishment estimates today (Wednesday) that the placement of underground sensors to detect tunnels along the Philadelphia Corridor will take no more than a few weeks to two months, according to Israel Hayom.

The sensors are a unique Israeli piece of technology, a version of which is currently installed in the underground barrier that Israel built around the Gaza Strip in recent years.

The same senior officials of the security establishment claim that it is sufficient to place these sensors to detect the digging of new tunnels, and there is no need to dig tens of kilometers into the ground and pour into it an underground wall similar to the one placed on the Israel-Gaza border.

As a result, as of this moment, the defense establishment abandoned the plan to build an underground wall between Israel and Egypt.
