Iran reported Monday morning that a senior member of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Hamid Mazandarani, was killed in a plane crash in Iran. He was the commander of the Nineveh Brigade in Golestan Province.

"An IRGC land-based gyro plane had an accident while carrying out combat operations in the southeastern border area of Sirkan," the report said, "Second Brigade Commander Hamid Mazandarani, commander of the Nineveh Brigade in Golestan Province, and the pilot of the aircraft, brother of the Guard, Hamed Jandeghi, were killed in this accident."

The IRGC's announcement did not provide further details. Mustafa al-Nuami, an Iranian policy researcher, reported that senior Mazandarani was a brigadier general in the Revolutionary Guards.

Iran's international news agency Tasnim, which is affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, reported that a light aircraft was involved in an accident during operational maneuvers of "security spaces" in the Sirvan area, and two were on the flight.

In this context, the public relations statement of the Quds headquarters of the IRGC's ground forces announced that the Gayro aircraft, a light aircraft belonging to the IRGC's ground forces, was involved in an accident while carrying out a combat operation in the border area
