Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced the closure of the Israeli embassy in Ireland today (Sunday), as an act of protest against Ireland's anti-Israel policy in relation to the war in Gaza, according to Israel Hayom.

A few months ago, Ireland joined Spain in unilaterally recognizing a Palestinian state while Israel was fighting an intensive war with Hamas following October 7th.

The last straw appears to have been Ireland's decision to join with South Africa's "genocide" lawsuit against Israel in the "Hague," where Ireland openly admitted that Israel is not committing genocide according to the strict interpretation of the Genocide Convention and that it aimed to "broaden" that definition.

Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that "the antisemitic actions and rhetoric which Ireland engages in towards Israel are based on delegitimization and demonization of the Jewish state and on double standards. Ireland has crossed all the red lines in its relationship with Israel."
