Hamas, Mediators Push for Ceasefire Progress and Hostage Release: Promises of a Second Phase Negotiation

These sources revealed that mediators from Egypt and Qatar have provided assurances that Israel will adhere to the terms of the ceasefire agreement, which includes the release of hostages by this coming Saturday. They emphasized that, should Israel maintain its commitment, the release process will proceed as planned, without complications.

A significant meeting between Hamas' senior official Khalil Al-Hayya and officials from Egypt’s intelligence services discussed various proposals related to the continuation of the ceasefire. The key focus was the implementation of all stages of the agreement. The sources mentioned that the mediators had offered guarantees and emphasized the importance of Hamas upholding its commitments, including the timely release of three Israeli captives on Saturday.

These guarantees also involve logistical support, including the gradual entry of necessary supplies such as caravans, tents, and heavy equipment, to ensure a smooth handover of the hostages. While Hamas expressed satisfaction with the guarantees provided, it also called for increased pressure on Israel to engage in "serious and genuine" negotiations concerning the second phase of the agreement.

The mediators, working closely with the United States, have assured that they are actively pursuing the implementation of this phase and are focused on ensuring the full execution of the current agreement. Despite the relatively positive atmosphere around the negotiations, the true test will come on Saturday when the first hostages are expected to be released.
