Hamas' spokesman in Ramadan speech: "We're committed to the ceasefire agreement"
Abu Obeida urges Muslims worldwide to take action, stressing the need to defend Palestinian honor and protect Gaza from further Israeli "oppression and displacement".

In his first address during the month of Ramadan, Hamas spokesman Abu Obeida reiterated Hamas' commitment to upholding the terms of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Israel.
Speaking to a global audience, Obeida emphasized that despite Israel’s alleged efforts to avoid fulfilling its obligations, Hamas would continue to honor the terms, striving to protect the lives of Palestinians and remove any pretexts for further violence.
“We have chosen—and still choose—to uphold the agreement, to spare our people’s blood and remove any excuses,” Obeida declared. His words came as part of a larger statement marking the arrival of Ramadan, which he described as "the month of conquests."
Obeida also extended greetings to Muslims worldwide, specifically Palestinians in Gaza. He acknowledged their sacrifices, saying, “To our two billion Muslim brothers, your fellow believers have purified their fast with a stream of pure blood.” He continued by criticizing Israel’s actions in Gaza, calling on the global Muslim community to respond.
“The Islamic nation will not rise and will have no standing among nations until this holy land is cleansed of the filth of the occupiers,” Obeida stated, evoking a strong call to action for Muslims everywhere.
The spokesman highlighted the dire situation Palestinians face, reminding the Muslim world of the ongoing suffering in Gaza. “The Arab Muslim people are facing genocide, starvation, and an attempt at displacement,” he said, urging his audience to consider the gravity of the crisis. He posed a direct challenge to the global Muslim community: “What will you do to defend your honor before the hand of the oppressors reaches your own home?”
Obeida’s speech underscored Hamas’s unyielding stance on the agreement despite frustrations over Israel’s repeated failure to meet its obligations, which he described as fundamental rights of the Palestinian people. His message was clear: Hamas will continue its commitment to the ceasefire and prisoner exchange terms, calling for international pressure to ensure Israel fulfills its end of the deal.
