After several days of unseasonable heat and dry conditions, Israel is bracing for a significant weather shift heading into the weekend, with cooler temperatures, strong winds, and scattered rainfall expected across much of the country before a slight warmup as Yom Kippur begins.
Thursday will remain hotter than usual and dry across most of the country, with muggy conditions persisting along the coastal strip.
Friday will bring partly cloudy skies and a sharp drop in temperatures, particularly in the mountainous regions and inland areas, where readings will return to seasonal norms. Local rain is forecast for the north and center of the country, with isolated thunderstorms possible in northern areas. Winds will strengthen across most regions.
Shabbat will be partly cloudy and relatively pleasant for the season, with temperatures below average, especially in the hills. Light local rain may fall in the north and center during the morning hours.
Sunday, erev Yom Kippur, will remain partly cloudy with a slight rise in temperatures. Light drizzle is possible along the coastal plain in the morning, while the evening hours, as the fast begins, are expected to bring relatively comfortable conditions.
