A 12-year-old girl was critically injured Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident in the Shomron community of Yitzhar. The girl was riding an electric bike when she slipped and sustained a severe head injury.

Emergency teams from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom were called to the scene around 4:30 p.m. following a report of an injured cyclist. They found the girl unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, suffering from a serious head wound.

Dr. Aviezer Gabai, a volunteer physician with United Hatzalah, and medics Shnior Sandroy and Eliyahu Frajon reported: "Passersby told us that the girl riding the electric bike was seriously injured to her head after she slipped while riding. We provided her with initial medical care at the scene while performing resuscitation, and she was then evacuated by helicopter to Beilinson Hospital in critical condition with resuscitation continuing."

Aryeh Tessler, Shlomo Meir and Ido Tomer, Judea and Samaria Hatzalah Without Borders volunteers with MDA who arrived at the scene, said: "We saw a girl about 12 years old lying at a distance from the bike after being injured while riding. She was unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, and suffering from a severe head injury. In cooperation with an IDF medical force and together with additional medics and paramedics who arrived at the scene, we began advanced resuscitation including chest compressions, ventilation and medication, and she is being evacuated while undergoing resuscitation by IDF helicopter in critical condition to the trauma unit at Beilinson Hospital."

MDA emergency medical medics Chaim Shlomo Meir and Chen Amia Binyamin said: "When we arrived at the scene we saw the girl lying on the ground after being injured while riding. She was unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, and suffered from a severe head injury. We immediately began resuscitation that included chest compressions, ventilation and medication, and we evacuated her by helicopter to the hospital in critical condition, while performing resuscitation."

The emergency teams worked in cooperation with an IDF medical force. The girl was evacuated by helicopter to Beilinson Hospital in critical condition, with resuscitation continuing throughout the flight.

Israel Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the single-vehicle accident. Officers from the Ariel station and traffic accident investigators from the Judea and Samaria District are at the scene working to clarify the circumstances as part of the investigation.

Electric bike accidents have become a common phenomenon among children and teenagers in recent years. Several days ago, a chareidi woman around 35 was seriously injured by a bus in Jerusalem while crossing the road as a pedestrian.
