The campaign headquarters for Haimanot Kasao, the missing Ethiopian-Israeli girl, released an update Sunday detailing the family's schedule for Election Day.
Tsefaye and Benchi Kasao and their eldest daughter Yeros will begin the day by voting in Tzfat, where they are registered. After casting their ballots, the family will drive from Tzfat to Jerusalem, stopping at polling stations along the route before returning to their protest tent in the capital. This is the second election in which Tsefaye and Benchi are voting, and the first for Yeros.
"I admit I'm struggling with this Election Day coming up," Tsefaye Kasao, Haimanot's father, said in the statement. "We will exercise our civic, democratic right and vote, but my heart aches because it feels to me that in so many ways, my daughter and we are not treated as equal citizens."
Tsefaye described the family's efforts over recent months in emotional terms: "We did everything we could in recent months, met with every party leader and every politician who agreed, to try to transfer the investigation to the Shin Bet's responsibility, and we still haven't succeeded. We will travel as a family to Tzfat to vote because it's important and because we still haven't moved to permanent housing in Jerusalem. On the way back we will stop and meet good citizens at polling stations and ask them to continue standing with us and supporting us."
