Israel's Education Ministry on Sunday issued detailed instructions to all schools and kindergartens nationwide to refresh their emergency preparedness procedures.
The directive, sent to principals and district administrations, calls for reviewing evacuation protocols with teaching staff, updating school-level emergency plans, inspecting the condition and readiness of protected spaces, and expanding options for maintaining in-person instruction.
"Part of an ongoing process of drawing lessons"
The ministry emphasized that the measures are part of routine organizational and professional practice, intended to ensure full readiness at all times.
"The instructions are part of an ongoing process of preparedness and drawing lessons, and do not indicate any new security development," the ministry clarified. Officials added that there is no change in Home Front Command guidelines to the general public, and that studies in all frameworks continue normally and in full.
Checking protected spaces and expanding physical learning
The refreshed guidelines place emphasis on periodic inspection of shelters, reinforced rooms (mamadim) and protected spaces in schools and kindergartens, alongside verification of rapid evacuation procedures when a siren sounds.
At the same time, the Education Ministry is working to expand responses and options for maintaining continuous in-person learning inside educational institutions, based on the understanding that preserving routine and face-to-face meetings between students and teaching staff constitute a central component in the mental and educational resilience of Israel's children.
