Hendel: What I'll do in next election

Former communications minister and Miluimnikim party chairman attacks coalition talks, warns against abandoning voter commitments, and lays out his plan for the next round

Yoaz Hendel

Yoaz Hendel, chairman of the Miluimnikim party and former communications minister, delivered sharp criticism of the ongoing coalition talks in an interview with Ron Kaufman and Aryeh Eldad on Radio 103FM, and outlined his plans for the next political round.

"I'm genuinely worried that the change bloc, which is raising the banner of enlistment, will end up sitting with the chareidi parties that call us a government of heretics, or with Arab parties that don't recognize Hamas as a terror organization," Hendel said. "I intend to fight because we still need to win on the battlefield, we still need soldiers and we still need to fulfill our missions. Forces are being thinned out in Gaza and Lebanon, but the fact that the election is over doesn't change anything. This silence is so jarring that it offends me personally."

"We'll make any connection possible to pull the state out of the mud"

Hendel addressed the 155,000 votes his party received and noted that the political body he established is drawing lessons and conducting a thorough review: "There was an insane campaign here with a huge investment of money against us, but 155,000 people voted for us and I'm committed to them ... You can't ignore the fact that we need soldiers, and that the State of Israel is disintegrating into Arab autonomies lacking governance and chareidi shtetls that see us as a government of heretics."

Regarding preparations for another election round, he said, "I promise I'll do whatever needs to be done, there are no limits on the moves that can be made to make things better here. I promise any connection possible to pull the State of Israel out of the mud. I led the third bloc that everyone wanted to take down, and it seems to me that reality is proving to everyone that what I said is happening."

Hendel emphasized that the party will continue to apply political pressure on all players in the system to prevent the continuation of the draft exemption and bring about a change in national priorities.

"I criticized this government, Smotrich, Ben-Gvir and the Likud over the draft-dodging law, and I'm going to criticize the change bloc that said it would do the opposite, I won't give up on anyone," Hendel concluded. "Whoever threw their vote in the trash is whoever voted for these blocs that for the sixth time are bringing exactly the same result. The State of Israel is stuck, and in the end a large part of the agenda of the major parties is power and not creating a Zionist government that deals with enlistment, the cost of living and governance."
