Haddad: Trump aid freeze a "warning light"

Israeli-Arab activist Yosef Haddad responds to reports of Trump announcing a freeze on security aid to Israel, warning that the move signals a dangerous shift in how American politicians view support for the Jewish state

Israeli-Arab activist Yosef Haddad published a warning today (Tuesday) following what he described as President Donald Trump's announcement of a freeze on security aid to Israel, in a post he shared on X. Haddad argued that the move is tied to the upcoming midterm elections in the United States, and cautioned that it signals a shift in how even Israel's closest allies view the Jewish state.

"When President Trump announces a freeze on security aid to Israel against the backdrop of the midterm elections in the US, it's not coincidental ...This is a move with a political interest in response to the Democrats' momentum toward victory over the Republicans," he wrote.

"In effect, this is a significant warning light --- if today the way to bring in voters in America goes through steps against Israel, then you can understand how serious our international situation is and how much Israeli hasbara is lacking in the world, especially with our greatest ally ... Just imagine what the situation could be in another two years when there's a different president in the White House instead of Trump, and there's a good chance he won't be particularly pro-Israel..." he warned.
