Sara Netanyahu: "Stealing the elections"

Prime Minister's wife attended coalition meeting and accused foreign states of interfering in Israel's election, according to Channel 13 report; Likud denies

Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, attended a recent coalition meeting and made sharp accusations about the election results and foreign interference, Channel 13 reported Tuesday evening. According to the report, Mrs. Netanyahu told those present that foreign states had penetrated Israel's electoral process and were undermining the country's sovereignty. Likud denied the report.

According to sources who were present at the meeting and whose remarks were quoted on Channel 13, Sara Netanyahu told the gathering: "They're stealing the state from us. Stealing the elections. There are foreign states that have penetrated and are stealing our sovereignty. This is a serious matter; we cannot let it pass."

The remarks attributed to Mrs. Netanyahu were made during a political meeting attended by representatives of coalition parties, alongside the Prime Minister himself. According to the report, the Prime Minister's wife did not limit herself to claims about the election results, but also addressed what she described as the involvement of foreign states and damage to Israel's sovereignty.

Likud, however, denied the remarks attributed to Sara Netanyahu.

The report follows an earlier Channel 13 story from last week about tensions in the Prime Minister's Office following the elections. According to that report, on election day Sara Netanyahu approached Ido Nordan, the acting chief of staff in the Prime Minister's Office, and told him: "You have nothing to come back to the office for; we're losing because of you."

The report further stated that following the incident, Nordan was distanced from the Prime Minister's inner circle and no longer joins Netanyahu on trips in his vehicle. The Prime Minister's Office denied that report as well, stating that they "completely deny the report."
