An emotional meeting took place Wednesday between Yossi Cohen and his wife Orly, parents of Amit Cohen HY"D who fell in the war, and Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yesh Atid party, and his wife Chana.

During the meeting, Yossi Cohen asked to apologize to the Eisenkot family for severe statements he made Monday outside the Eisenkot family home.

"A few days ago I arrived at the home of MK Gadi Eisenkot and hurled harsh and terrible words at Gadi and his family members," Yossi Cohen said after the meeting. "I ask to apologize first of all to Gal HY"D, to Chana and to Gadi."

The bereaved father added a call to the wider public: "I also want to call on everyone, MKs, aides and voters, not to act with violence, to accept the differing opinion." Cohen repeated his apology: "I ask to apologize again to Gadi, Chana and Gal, may Hashem avenge his blood. Unity in the people of Israel."

The Yashar! party had filed a police complaint against the bereaved father Yossi Cohen, claiming he made murder threats outside the Eisenkot family home.

According to documentation, Cohen hurled at party chairman Gadi Eisenkot the statement "you murdered your son," and said to his wife Chana: "you won't live, you'll be next to your son."

The incident occurred against the backdrop of political tension following plans by the opposition bloc to cancel laws passed by the previous government. Eisenkot, who previously served as IDF Chief of Staff, lost his son Gal HY"D in the war, and his family is among the bereaved families who lost loved ones in service to the state.
