Zohar: Eisenkot unfit for leadership

Likud minister Miki Zohar attacks former IDF chief Gadi Eisenkot's political ambitions, saying the opposition keeps promoting candidates without regard to their actual suitability

Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar launched a sharp attack this evening against former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, declaring him unfit to lead the country. Speaking on the "Evening Journal" program on Galei Yisrael radio, hosted by Silvan Shalom and Doron Cohen, Zohar addressed Eisenkot's political experience and his ambitions to compete for national leadership.

"Let him come and learn, let him come and understand how this story works for a few years, and then maybe he'll see himself as someone who wants to be prime minister too," Minister Zohar said during the interview.

Zohar argued that the promotion of Eisenkot as a leadership candidate reflects a recurring pattern among the opposition and the left, one that disregards actual suitability for the role.

"At the end of the day, the left keeps finding itself some flagship candidate to lead them to run the country," the minister added. "It doesn't matter what his experience is, what his abilities are, whether he's suitable or not suitable. So this time it's Eisenkot, and Eisenkot is not fit for the job. That's the truth. It needs to be said, he is not fit for the job."
