Iran Wedding Hall Strike: Civilian Casualties Reported

At least five people were killed and more than 50 injured when missile debris struck a wedding hall in the southern Iranian city of Kohestak, according to Iranian officials and international media reports. The incident occurred in Sirik province during American military strikes targeting Iranian Revolutionary Guard positions across the region.

Iranian Red Crescent and Foreign Ministry spokesmen reported that the casualties included a child. The debris hit a residential building where a wedding celebration was underway at the time of the strike. The United States has not yet confirmed the Iranian account of civilian casualties or issued any statement acknowledging responsibility for the incident.

The reported casualties come amid a major wave of U.S. military operations against Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz and inside Iran itself. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that American forces struck Revolutionary Guard facilities including air defense systems, radar installations, and naval sites in the region.

Some observers have raised the possibility that the damage resulted from a failed Iranian interceptor missile or a misfired Iranian response, rather than direct American action. Iran launched missiles and drones toward U.S. bases in the area following the American strikes, but no official U.S. statement has attributed the wedding hall casualties to errant Iranian fire.

Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who has participated in talks with the United States, issued a sharp condemnation of the incident. "Minab school: children massacred. Lamerd sports hall: children slaughtered. Kohestak wedding: children killed with their families," he wrote. "When a power behaves like Satan, chooses targets like Satan, and kills like Satan, it is Satan. Protecting a lesser Satan doing the same? That is the Great Satan."

Tensions in the Persian Gulf continue to intensify. Iran responded to the American strikes with missile and drone launches toward U.S. bases in the region. A spokesman for Iran's emergency command warned that "the attacks will continue until the United States regrets its crimes."
