Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee and favorite to win mayor of New York City, has already inspired a copycat: Omar Fateh of Minnesota.
Like Mamdani, Fateh is a democratic socialist who believes in giving increasing amounts of police work to social workers, hiking the minimum wage to $30 and forcing a rent freeze throughout the city, according to reporting by the Minnesota Reformer..
Fateh is also like Mamdani in that his sympathies very much lie not with Israel, even after October 7. Ten days after the massacre, Fateh posted the following letter on the matter, briefly acknowledging Hamas atrocities while going into detail on all sorts of alleged crimes by Israel after the attack.
