Royal Feud Flares Anew

Piers Morgan Attacks Prince Harry after BBC Interview: "A Treacherous Rat"

Harry’s BBC interview drew mixed responses: some praised his candor on security threats, others saw it as another jab at the royals.

Piers Morgan has reignited his crusade against Prince Harry, calling the Duke of Sussex a “hypocritical twerp” and “treacherous rat” after a BBC interview about lost UK security protections.

On Friday, Harry told the BBC he was “devastated” by a High Court ruling upholding the Home Office’s decision to downgrade his security for UK visits, citing threats from neo-Nazis and al-Qaeda. He sought reconciliation with the royal family but implied King Charles III blocked a proper risk assessment.

Piers Morgan erupted on X, accusing Harry of “despicable treatment” of his family during Prince Philip’s and Queen Elizabeth II’s final days and Charles and Kate Middleton’s cancer battles. “Is there a more contemptible public figure?” Morgan wrote, urging Charles to strip Harry and Meghan’s royal titles for exploiting their status while attacking the monarchy.

Morgan called Harry “dead-eyed, whiny, entitled” and rallied supporters: “I stand with King Charles against his treacherous rat of a son.”

Morgan’s attacks, ongoing since Harry’s 2019 royal exit, intensified with Harry’s lawsuits against UK tabloids, including Mirror Group Newspapers, where Morgan was editor (1995–2004). A 2023 court ruling confirmed Morgan knew about phone hacking, awarding Harry £140,600.

Harry accused Morgan of retaliatory attacks to deter his lawsuits, a claim the broadcaster denies. Morgan also mocked Harry over recent bullying allegations tied to his Sentebale charity, calling his defense “comically ironic.”

Not everyone agrees with Piers on this issue, of course. But, as his platform grows and Harry’s legal battles continue (against Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers and others), this feud shows no signs of abating.
