Germany: Raid on Institutions Suspected of Connection with Hezbollah
Hundreds of police officers raided 54 institutions across Germany, on suspicion of being used by organizations linked to Hezbollah and Hamas and aiding terrorism. One of the central institutions investigated is the Islamic Center in Hamburg.

Hundreds of police officers raided dozens of institutions across Germany this morning (Thursday), on the suspicion that they were used by organizations linked to Hezbollah and Hamas. According to the police, the raid was carried out at 54 different sites in seven federal states in Germany.
According to the announcement of the German Ministry of the Interior, the raid follows an extensive investigation of the sites - with the main suspicion being terrorism aid. It was also said that equipment was confiscated at the various institutions - but at this stage, no arrests were reported.
One of the main institutions investigated is the Islamic Center in Hamburg, which is considered one of the oldest Muslim institutions in Germany and where the first mosque built in the country is located. Last September, members of parliament in Germany, called for the center's activity to be outlawed after it was claimed that it was a "nest of spies".
German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser said "At a time when many Jews feel threatened, Germany will not accept any Islamic propaganda or anti-Semitic incitement against Israel. Now is the time to be on high alert and adopt a tough policy - and for this reason, we take every suspicion very seriously and examine every possible incident ".
