The former footballer Mesut Özil, who is remembered from his storied years in Real Madrid, Arsenal and the German national team, lost all restraint. Today (Wednesday), Özil, who is known for his anti-Israeli views, uploaded a story on his Instagram account with a picture of a map of Israel with a red X over the word "ISRAEL" and the inscription "PALESTINE" below it.

During his career, Özil was subject to much criticism in Germany for his political statements and warm relations with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, the country from which Özil's family immigrated.

He retired from football during last season, but recently his name has been in the headlines again in Germany for the wrong reasons. The former midfielder was photographed in the gym with his personal trainer as the two show off their bodies, and Ozil has a wolf tattooed on his chest - a symbol of the Grey Wolves movement, which in recent years has been associated with Erdogan and is considered fascist and racist.
