German police have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with a deadly stabbing spree at a festival on Friday that left three people dead and eight others injured, officials announced at a Saturday news conference.

The arrest was made following the brutal attack in the Fronhof, a market square in Solingen, near Cologne and Düsseldorf in western Germany.

Authorities suspect that the boy had prior knowledge of the planned attack but failed to inform the authorities. However, they clarified that he is not the attacker, and the perpetrator remains at large.
