Get Ready For Mayor Mamdani

Fox News Poll: Mamdani Leading NYC Mayoral Race Amid Shifting Jewish Voter Support

Barring a miracle, Mamdani will be New York's next mayor. Bizarrely, many Jews are voting for him despite his desire to globalize the intifada and refusal to condemn Hamas and their October 7 atrocities.

Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani has solidified his position as the frontrunner in the 2025 New York City mayoral race, according to a recent Fox News poll, capturing 52% support among likely voters. The survey places independent candidate and former Governor Andrew Cuomo in second with 28%, while Republican Curtis Sliwa trails at 14%.

The poll, conducted from October 10-14 among 1,003 registered voters (with a subsample of 793 likely voters), highlights Mamdani's broad appeal, particularly among younger voters, Democrats, and progressives. His platform, which includes proposals for rent freezes, free public transit, and universal childcare, appears to resonate strongly in a city grappling with housing affordability and economic inequality.

However, the race reveals notable divisions, especially among Jewish voters, a key demographic in New York City. Cuomo leads Mamdani 42% to 38% in this subgroup, with Sliwa garnering 13%. This represents a narrower gap compared to prior surveys, where Mamdani's support among Jewish voters was lower. Mamdani, a vocal critic of Israeli policies, has faced accusations of antisemitism from some Jewish leaders. Despite this, he has pledged to combat hate crimes and enhance security for Jewish institutions, emphasizing his commitment to protecting all communities.

Mamdani's overall lead marks an increase from September's Fox News survey, where his support among likely voters stood at 47%. Analysts attribute the bump to heightened enthusiasm among his base, 75% of Mamdani supporters report being extremely or very motivated to vote, compared to 43% for Cuomo's backers.

Cuomo, running as an independent after a scandal-plagued resignation in 2021, has gained ground among moderates, older voters, and independents. His campaign focuses on public safety and experience in crisis management, appealing to those concerned about crime. Sliwa, the Guardian Angels founder and 2021 GOP nominee, maintains strong support among Republicans and Trump voters but struggles to expand beyond his base.

With Election Day just weeks away, the poll's margin of error (±3.5% for likely voters) suggests the race could tighten, especially if Sliwa's candidacy splits the anti-Mamdani vote. Early voting begins soon, and debates could further influence undecided voters, who make up about 6% of the electorate. This survey underscores the evolving dynamics in one of the nation's most watched municipal races, blending progressive policies with longstanding cultural and political tensions.
