The FBI and local law enforcement have secured the California home of Cole Allen, the suspect in the shooting outside the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, as investigators move to obtain a search warrant.

Allen, 31, of Torrance, was identified by authorities following the incident. A federal judge in California is expected to approve a warrant allowing agents to search the residence, a process that could take several hours.

Until then, law enforcement has established a perimeter around the property to prevent anyone from entering or leaving.

Investigators are rapidly building a profile of the suspect, drawing on federal databases to review criminal history, travel records, known associates, and prior interactions with law enforcement. Retired FBI supervisory special agent Jason Pack said such information can be compiled within minutes.

Authorities are also seeking digital warrants for Allen’s phone, email accounts, social media, and search history, alongside physical warrants tied to addresses associated with him.

Officials believe evidence inside the home could provide critical insight into motive, including any written materials, communications, or weapons.

At the same time, investigators are reconstructing Allen’s movements leading up to the shooting, working backward from the scene at the Washington Hilton to determine how the incident developed.
