A large-scale search is underway in northern India for Samuel Vangerinovich, a 44-year-old Israeli who went missing last Friday while hiking the popular but challenging Triund Trek near Dharamshala. Samuel was reportedly last seen approaching the glacier area, a stretch of the trail known for its rugged terrain and increasingly harsh conditions at higher elevations. Since then, all contact with him has been lost.

His disappearance has prompted a widespread response. Hundreds of Israeli travelers already in the region have joined the search efforts, working in coordination with local guides and rescue teams. Notably, the well-known Israeli search and rescue unit led by Hilik Magnus has deployed personnel to the mountainous region to assist in locating him.

Back in Israel, Samuel’s father is actively involved and doing everything in his power to support the operation and bring his son home. Despite the difficult conditions and uncertain situation, hope remains.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement confirming that, “The Israeli Embassy in India and the Department for Israelis in Distress are involved in the search for a missing Israeli citizen in Dharamshala. They are maintaining close contact with local police and authorities, the traveler's insurance company, and his family. We hope the Israeli national will be found safe and sound.”

As search efforts continue in the steep and remote terrain, time is critical. With both local and international support on the ground, the mission remains focused on bringing Samuel back safely.
