When National Symbols Are No Longer Sacred

The death of Mizrachi Jewish Traditionalism is exemplified by the Degeneracy at The Torch-Lighting Ceremony

What was once a unifying national celebration is now being used to promote fringe agendas that divide more than they inspire.

Once upon a time, Israel’s torch-lighting ceremony was a proud moment for all Jews, rooted in Zionism, Jewish tradition, and national unity.

Today, it has morphed into something far removed from its origins: a theatrical performance filled with postmodern spectacle filled with DEI which looks like a Eurovision Freak-Show designed more to provoke than to inspire all with some bizzare twisted North-African flair courtesy of Miri Regev.

This year’s ceremony features an Arab singer and a transgender icon. At the helm is Transportation Minister Miri Regev, known for branding herself as a champion of “traditional values,” yet routinely showcasing her version of tradition through empty gestures and media stunts, from Instagramming pre-cooked challahs that she presents as if she made them (on Fridays) to frequenting restaurants that proudly serve shrimp.

This is what Mizrachi Traditionalism has morphed into with the Likud.

A bizarre blend of couscous, Mimona, pagan rituals and LGBT'sm.

In a way not far from Ashkenazi reform Judaism in the U.S.

What does this say about the so-called “traditionalists” who claim to uphold Jewish identity in Israel? about their trendy and hollow reliance on symbolic rituals divorced from Torah, humility, or reverence?.

It shows us that it is less about continuity and more about convenience. National pride is replaced by pageantry. Spiritualmeaning is substituted with performance. It's bizzare. Low IQ. and unfitting for mindful humans, let alone people who call themselves Jewish.

When you look at the Casting of Zehava Ben, or some other freakish pop icons, it all looks like the Mizrachi 'Trads' have nothing to offer Israel.

It’s no wonder that senior rabbis have called on the public to boycott the ceremony. Their message is not one of hate, but of mourning of what this ceremony used to represent, and what it has now become.

Perhaps now, more Israelis, especially those who identify as traditional or right-wing, will come to see that the real threats to Jewish identity no longer come from the secular Left, but from those who dress up superficial nationalism as spirituality.

That includes politicians who wrap empty slogans in flags and turn sacred tradition into a reality show.

Like the lady running the Likud show - Miri Regev, who used to speak in a racist way of too much "White DNA" in the Likud, and has shown us all that her DNA is actually Rainbow.
