Officers from the Central District's Rehovot station responded to an emergency call around 1:45 PM reporting a violent incident on Peki'in Street. Upon arrival, they discovered the elderly victim lifeless with multiple stab wounds across his body. Magen David Adom paramedics who rushed to the scene could only pronounce him dead at the location.
Patrol officers immediately detained the victim's son, a Rehovot resident in his forties, on suspicion of direct involvement in the killing. During the initial crime scene investigation, police recovered what they believe to be the murder weapon — a knife allegedly used in the fatal attack.
Roy Ben Shoshen, a senior paramedic with MDA's motorcycle unit, described the grim scene: "We worked alongside police who led us to the victim lying unconscious without a pulse or breathing. We conducted medical assessments, but his injuries were critical and we were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene."
ZAKA volunteers from the Shfela region arrived to assist with handling the deceased according to Jewish law. The incident marks yet another case of suspected domestic violence in Israel, adding to a troubling pattern of violent attacks that have shaken communities in recent weeks.
The suspect has been transferred to Rehovot police station for interrogation. Investigators are working to establish the circumstances that led to the deadly confrontation between father and son.
