"No Forgiveness for Traitors": Protesters Storm Reform Synagogue Over Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Screening

Stones were thrown at the Reform synagogue in Ra'anana during a viewing of the alternative Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Ceremony. “People kicked me and spat at me,” recounted the Deputy Mayor, who was evacuated under police protection. Orit suffered scratches and was punched: “Bruised on my forehead, arm, and above my eye.” Three were arrested, including on suspicion of assaulting police officers. Former hostage Liat Atsili gave a speech at the event.

The joint Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Ceremony was held last night (Tuesday) in Jaffa and the town of Beit Jala near Bethlehem, led by the organizations “Combatants for Peace” and the “Parents Circle – Families Forum.”

In Ra'anana, where a screening of the ceremony took place in a Reform synagogue, disturbances were reported outside involving right-wing activists who, according to eyewitnesses, assaulted people and threw stones at the temple. Some protesters shouted, “Death to terrorists.”

Deputy Mayor of Ra'anana, Shmuel Vogman, arrived at the scene after attending the official ceremony at Yad LaBanim and receiving calls about the incident.

“Outside, there’s a mob hitting, throwing stones. The police escorted people to their cars. It’s terrifying—real violence."

Ahead of the event, the right-wing organization “B’Tsalmo” posted: “We won’t let terror supporters into Ra’anana.”

The police stated they had prepared to secure the event, but “a commotion broke out between protesters and attendees. Officers at the scene intervened and arrested three suspects for assault, including the assault of four officers who suffered minor injuries and were treated on site.” The suspects were transferred for questioning, and their continued detention will be reviewed based on the findings.
