Strategic shift
IAF takes the fight to Iran’s interior, targeting missile infrastructure in a zone once thought untouchable
IAF targets new missile zones south of Tehran in a significant escalation, pushing Iran’s launch operations deeper inland.

Overnight, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) launched a wide-scale wave of airstrikes targeting ballistic missile sites in central Iran, specifically in a region that had not been struck by the IDF since the beginning of the current conflict. The area, located south of Tehran and under the command of Iran’s Central Military District, marks a significant expansion of Israel’s operational reach.
Until now, most Israeli air operations focused on western Iran - the region closer to Israel - where many of Iran’s missile sites are concentrated and from where most of the early launches originated, including those during last year’s missile exchanges.
However, in the past 24 hours, the IAF has identified a notable strategic shift: Iran’s missile launches are increasingly being carried out from deep within Iranian territory, specifically from central regions farther from Israel. This suggests that Israeli strikes may be successfully pushing Iran’s launch capabilities inward, away from the border regions.
A senior Israeli Air Force source assessed: “We’re seeing a clear trend - Iranian missile fire is being forced deeper inside their territory.”
During last night’s operation, dozens of targets were struck by fighter jets, including:
Major missile launch sites
Storage facilities
Deployment and staging areas
In addition, IAF drones identified and attacked mobile missile launchers that had been deployed in the field.
This wave of attacks represents a strategic effort to degrade Iran’s missile capabilities not only tactically but also geographically - making it harder and riskier for Iran to launch further barrages toward Israeli territory.
