Aston Martin AMB 002 Roadster: First Street-Legal Bike

Aston Martin is expanding its presence in the two-wheeled world, partnering with French motorcycle manufacturer Brough Superior to unveil the AMB 002 Roadster, an extraordinary new machine that represents a first for the collaboration: a bike designed for public road use. The new model follows in the footsteps of the AMB 001 and the more powerful AMB 001 Pro variant, but unlike those predecessors, it isn't confined to the racetrack.

Despite the connection to earlier models, both companies emphasize this isn't simply a street-legal version of the previous motorcycle. The AMB 002 was developed as an entirely new machine, with a more comfortable and upright riding position and an engine tuned to deliver usable power at speeds and RPM ranges suited to everyday riding. Production will be capped at 300 units, with deliveries expected to begin in the third quarter of 2027. Pricing has not yet been announced.

At the heart of the motorcycle sits a new water-cooled 1,083cc V-Twin engine producing approximately 130 horsepower and 110 Newton-meters of torque. Unlike the AMB 001 Pro, which reached around 225 horsepower and focused on extreme track performance, the emphasis here is on accessible torque throughout the low and mid-range RPM band.

One of the engineering highlights is the frame. Machined from a solid block of titanium, it weighs just 5 kilograms. The entire motorcycle tips the scales at approximately 190 kilograms. Body panels and the fuel tank are crafted from carbon fiber, aimed at reducing weight and helping achieve a 50:50 weight distribution. The engine itself is designed, machined, and assembled at the Brough Superior factory in Toulouse, France.

The design leaves little doubt about the Aston Martin connection. The bodywork incorporates what the companies call a "two-wheeled interpretation" of elements familiar from the automaker's cars, while the pair of oval exhaust outlets draws inspiration from models like the Vanquish, DB12 S, and DBX S. At the rear, slim lighting units echo those seen on exotic models including the Vulcan, Valkyrie, and Valhalla.

Beyond aesthetics, some elements serve functional purposes as well. Vents on the sides of the bodywork assist in cooling the engine, while the combination of carbon fiber, hand-stitched leather, and machined metal components gives the motorcycle the character of a collector's piece as much as a mode of transport.

The front suspension system is particularly unusual. The AMB 002 employs a Fior double-wishbone setup designed to separate the forces generated by steering from those created during braking. The structure also provides an anti-dive effect under braking and is intended to maintain stability and steering precision even when the rider brakes hard while cornering.

The motorcycle also includes keyless ignition, an illuminated start button, and a seat with hand-stitched leather upholstery. Ultimately, the AMB 002 represents less an attempt by Aston Martin to enter the mass motorcycle market and more a statement of capability: an exotic, limited-production motorcycle that merges the design language of British supercars with the distinctive motorcycle engineering of Brough Superior.
